Drag event at Lanarkshire hotel will raise funds for charity trip to New York

The Alona Hotel will welcome some special guests on Sunday at their first boozy Drag Brunch.

Organised by top drag artist Garry King, the all-day event will feature shows, makeup tutorials, speeches and provide a day out for those stuck inside because of the pandemic.

Garry has been working with The Alona Hotel for a while to organise the star-studded event and feels that it will be an amazing day out for all involved.

Gary told Lanarkshire Live : “We have a whole range of guests attending on Sunday and they all come from lots of different backgrounds.

“There are singers, panto acts, life coaches, and make-up artists all coming to make sure everyone gets an action-packed day.

“Beauty Kitchen from Wishaw is coming along to do makeovers and show people beauty tips and tricks.

“And panto stars from Motherwell Concert Hall’s production of The Wizard of Oz will be there to give people a taste of what they can expect later in the year.

“There are people coming from 18 years old to 80/90 years old so it is really an event for all ages.

“Loads of people have been messaging me saying how excited they are as this will be their first time out in such a long time.”

All the money raised from the day will go towards Garry’s company, Go Kid’s Scotland.

They are helping to fund so that nine of their seniors can make a trip over to New York to have a chance to perform on Broadway.

Garry said: “We could have just used a JustGiving link and had people send us money, but I think this is a much better way to do it.

“People will have a great day and be raising money for a really good cause.”

There are just a handful of tickets available for the event here.
