A HUMAN skull discovered in Motherwell has been identified as a historic teaching prop.
Officers raced to Bellshill Road, on Friday evening, after a member of the public raised the alarm.
A probe confirmed the remains were human.
However, it’s understood the bone structure was previously used for for historic, medical or teaching purposes.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.30am on Friday, 15 April, police were called to Bellshill Road in Motherwell, after a member of the public discovered what appeared to be a skull.
Following enquiries it has been confirmed as human remains.

Enquiries are ongoing, however there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
