It’s believed the party was in the Ravenscraig area.

The clip appears to show between 50 and 100 people – none wearing masks – in attendance in a clear mass breach of coronavirus guidelines.

Cops were not called out on the night but have since been made aware of the footage spreading on social media, and so have launched an investigation.

It’s understood at least two people ended up in hospital early on Sunday morning with possible carbon monoxide poisoning from generator fumes at the rave.

Other revellers complained of a “near death experience” on social media.

One said: “Never ever again will I go to an illegal rave in a tunnel, near death experience x1000.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Officers were not called to any gathering of this nature in this area on Saturday, 8 May, however we are aware of videos posted online.

“We are looking into the matter at this time to establish if further police action is required.”

It comes after masses of maskless Brits packed out a non-socially distanced outdoor music festival in Liverpool.

Some 5,000 excited partygoers arrived at Sefton Park for the pilot event as the UK set its sights on returning to normality with the government navigating the country out of the coronavirus pandemic.

The idea of the national Events Research Programme was to provide data on how gatherings can be permitted to safely reopen as restrictions ease.

It is hoped the events will pave the way for festivals across the country to kick start again.

Thousands of buzzing revellers were pictured after lapping up the atmosphere at the pilot – one of the first post-lockdown raves to be held in the UK.
