A MAN has died after being found in the grounds of a school by cleaning staff.
Emergency services rushed to Braidhurst High, Motherwell, shortly before 6am on Monday.
It is understand cleaning staff at the Dalriada Crescent school discovered the 33-year-old.
He was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital by ambulance crew, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
Cops are treating the death as unexplained, but there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
A report on the sudden death will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Braidhurst High was closed to staff and the children of key workers on Monday while police probed the discovery.
Those who would normally have been at the school were housed in a nearby primary, and Braidhurst has since re-opened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.55am on Monday, we received the report of concern for a man outside a premises on Dalriada Crescent in Motherwell.
“Emergency services attended and a 33-year-old man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service where he was pronounced dead.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
“As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: “We were able to transfer pupils of keyworkers to a nearby primary school to allow police to carry out their investigations.
“This is currently a police matter and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment.”
