Man in court charged with murder of woman and bid to kill two others

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman and attempts to kill two others in Edinburgh.

Daniel Parker appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday connection with the death of Margaret Parker at a house in Fernieside Crescent on May 21.

The 36-year-old from Edinburgh made no plea and has been remanded in custody.

He also faces two charges of attempted murder and is due to appear in court again within the next eight days.

Margaret Parker, 78, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on Tuesday morning.

A 55-year-old woman and a 42-year-old woman were also injured but didn’t require medical treatment.
