Mercy crews found the man hurt on nearby Muir Street, and it is understood he was seen by medics.

Locals claim cops cordoned off a section of Muir Street where a “pool of blood” could be seen.

Police Scotland have launched a probe into the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 4.45pm, we received a report of a man being assaulted at Motherwell Station, Muir Street.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

It comes as a man was rushed to hospital after being attacked in Rutherglen, near Glasgow.

A heavy police presence was spotted in the Farie Street area yesterday evening, following the assault, with cops sealing off a nearby pathway.

And a man in Bathgate was left with “significant” injuries after being battered by two thugs in broad daylight.

The 60-year-old was attacked on North Bridge Street on Sunday, May 2, and was helped by members of the public.
