A WOMAN and two men have been arrested and charged with alleged “human trafficking” offences after police raids in Motherwell.
Cops swooped on two properties in the Lanarkshire town, one in Dalriada Crescent and the other in Jerviston Court, on Thursday.
The men, aged 50 and 37, and the woman, 25, have all been charged with human trafficking offences.
The trio appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
The raids were carried out as part of an investigation by the National Human Trafficking Unit.
A statement from Lanarkshire Police Division read: “Three people have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation by the National Human Trafficking Unit.
“Specialist officers executed search warrants at two addresses on Dalriada Crescent and Jerviston Court, Motherwell on Thursday, 8 April, 2021.
“Two men, aged 50 and 37, and a 25-year-old woman have been charged in connection with human trafficking offences.
“They appeared at Hamilton Sherriff Court on Friday, 9 April, 2021, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
